Receiving the Holy Ghost

The Holy Ghost is not only a doctrine to study; He is the promised gift of God for believers. FPCA believes receiving the Holy Ghost is part of the New Testament salvation experience and continues to be available today.

The Promise Is for Today

On the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Ghost was poured out, and Peter declared that the promise was for those present, their children, and all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

  • Acts 2:1–4
  • Acts 2:38–39

Examples in Acts

Acts records people receiving the Holy Ghost in Jerusalem, Samaria, Caesarea, and Ephesus. These accounts show the Holy Ghost was not limited to one group or one moment in history.

  • Acts 8:14–17
  • Acts 10:44–48
  • Acts 19:1–6

A Life Changed by the Spirit

Receiving the Holy Ghost begins a Spirit-filled life of worship, holiness, power, prayer, and witness. The Spirit of God leads believers into a deeper walk with Jesus Christ.

  • Romans 8:9–11
  • Galatians 5:16–25
  • Jude 20
